As used by countless rock, heavy metal and punk guitarists around the world, Lace Pickups are considered the most effective way to hot-rod your guitar and transform it into a whole different beast. Super hot tone, low noise and amazing sustain all define the characteristic sound of a Lace pickup.
Lace Sensors are one of the most sought-after pickups ever produced, introduced to the world in the mid 1980s. Originally installed exclusively on Fender guitars between 1985 and 1996, the trademark tone of Lace had began to leave its mark, and helped define the sound of Heavy Rock and Metal during the period. Strats, Telecasters, Precision and Jazz Basses all bore the hot rodded tone of the single and double-coil 'Sensor' and helped establish Fender as the ultimate rock tone machines.
The Sensors achieve their iconic tone by surrounding the single coil with metal 'barriers', which are designed to reduce electro-magnetic interference such as power line hum. These barriers also help concentrate the magnetic field, allowing weaker magnets to be used, which results in less string pull. Less string pull, in turn, means truer pitch and intonation, and superior sustain.
Check out the Lace Dually, which combines two Single-Coil pickups in a Humbucker configuration as used on some of the most popular Stratocaster and Telecaster models of the 90s.
Introduced in 2007, Lace Alumitone pickups feature a new design which is aluminum based, rather than copper. The result is less resistance, higher output coupled to a "current driven design" as opposed to conventional voltage based pickups.
To satisfy the low-frequency demands of the bass guitarists, Lace also have a substantial range of Bass Pickups available to offer up thunderous low-end. The Aluma-J is typically used for Jazz-style tones, while the Aluma-P is a great all-rounder for Rock, Fusion and Country.
Lace also offer a range of Signature Pickups, produced in conjunction with some of the most legendary guitarists of the last 20 years. Matt Pike, Bill Kelliher, Brent Hinds and Scott Wino all have their own cutting-edge tone that Lace have helped define with these custom models. Signature pickups are ideal for capturing the specific tone of your favourite guitarist, so fans of Mastodon, High on Fire, and the Hidden Hand take note!
Also, be sure to check out Laces' range of Acoustic and Mandolin pickups, to inject your flat-top with monsterous electro acoustic tone.
